Dr Anthony (Tony) Bartone
General Practitioner - MBBS FRACGP MBA
Born in Melbourne to Italian parents Dr Anthony Bartone graduated from the University of Melbourne and subsequently obtained Fellowship with the Royal College of General Practitioners. He has been a GP for more than 35 years. Having grown up in Essendon he is very familiar with the north and western suburbs of Melbourne and has watched them grow. It was only natural that he set up Practice in Keilor Downs after having spent a year working as a visiting home locum doctor right across the western and north western suburbs of Melbourne. He then later also operated clinics in Werribee and Moonee Ponds.
Health inequities and access issues saw him pursue and complete an MBA and a brief consultancy role to large national primary care group. This ultimately saw him take on a large advocacy role and he ultimately became State and then National AMA President.
During the COVID19 pandemic Dr Tony Bartone joined the Altona North Medical Group (ANMG) initially assisting Dr Mukesh Haikerwal and Dr Karyn Alexander in delivering both respiratory clinic services followed by vaccination services to the north west via ANMG’s stand-alone Respiratory Disease Clinic. He subsequently joined the team taking a consulting room at ANMG as a regular visiting General Practitioner and is committed to supporting the delivery of quality, holistic, family-oriented care.
He loves to work out regularly at the gym, watching football (most codes), cooking, listening to opera or reading when he can. He is fluent in ITALIAN.
